My big brother and his girlfriend were in town this weekend and on Saturday morning I managed to make waffles and bacon without setting off our hyper-sensitive smoke detector. This success, while seemingly small, is in fact so colossal that I am giving it its own blog post.
Because sometimes life is made of little victories and ordinary triumphs.PS: Usually we use the waffle recipe mentioned here, but this weekend we tried this one and I will probably never go back. Perfectly crispy and light! Because before you slather something in Nutella, whipped cream, and strawberries, you want it as light as possible.
Soo, your brother and his girlfriend are pretty much adorable.
I know — they are too much. Also, she is kind of the classiest guest ever and always brings me amazing gifts like an entire cookie jar full of homemade cookies.
You are the hostess of all hostesses.
Nah… I jut use hostessing to procrastinate and justify my love of brunch.
Yummm those waffles look like perfection!
They were the best waffles I have ever made. I blame it on the cornstarch, a super weird ingredient that I added at the behest of the internet and it was AWESOME.
Agh! Now I’m hungry. **puts bacon on grocery list**
I basically count bacon as a staple around our house because running out is THE WORST.
How adorable are they? I love his glasses!
They are the cutest. : )
You’re so cute. I love it! And I know all about the joys of not setting off your fire alarm! You go girl!
Ours is SO SENSITIVE that it sometimes goes off just for opening the oven door. We basically have to cook with the kitchen door wide open and winter blowing in to avoid it,
Our apartment had one right over the sink. I couldn’t turn on the hot water without it going off because of the steam. š
