On Tuesday I texted a bunch of my girlfriends the following picture with the very ambitious caption of “38 weeks and hopefully the last bump shot ever!”
For a number of reasons that might someday be discussed in agonizing detail in the birth story post that I swore I would never write but will probably cave on — we were really serious about hoping for an early due date and fairly certain it would come. I optimistically took my hospital bag to my 38 week appointment… and back home. But Wednesday evening, we were back at the hospital and Thursday morning we welcomed this perfect squish into the world.
Henry.
Born in the wee hours of the morning and weighing in at a sizeable 7lbs 9 oz and 21 inches long that had this mother very thankful that he didn’t stay in the full 40 weeks. 
And people- he is perfect. James and I just stare at him by the hours, marveling at every detail of his tiny body, talking at length about every aspect of his new soul.
Welcome to the world Henry. We’re pretty much obsessed with your existence.
