Y’all, my baby brother is getting married. MARRIED. TO A REALLY AMAZING WOMAN. I still think of him as the little blond boy who had skinny little legs and followed around my older brother and myself, but somewhere along the way he grew into a man. A MAN WHO IS GETTING MARRIED. When he moved to DC a while ago, it was amazing. Family dinners! Road trips! Movie nights! Ruth moved out here this summer, and if I thought I loved her before, it was confirmed when she was my roomie for the summer. We would watch Dawson’s Creek just to sing along with the song (yep, go ahead and watch it and then come back), consume lots of cheese, and stay up talking. I could not be happier that she is becoming my sister and that our family out here in DC is growing.

He struggles to understand it because security has been his life, and I am so thankful for that. And he wants to fix it, wants to make it right, which humbles me and makes me proud. To give our kids both security from want, and compassion for those who want- that’s the tension. Cleaning the house today for our small group Christmas dinner and feeling beyond thankful for this home and the people who fill it.She is passionate about footwear (specifically her gold glitter jelly slippers), intent on carrying a metro card and bag of barley everywhere, and would happily wear her sleep sack half unzipped over all outfits. She also yells her own name when being forced to do something against her wishes and has learned that shoving books at adults gets them to sit down and cuddle. She is our Etta girl, our total troll, our mischievous Loki baby to her big brother Thor. We wouldn’t have it any other way. 📸: @little_house_big_love
