Finally made it to take newborn photos of baby Livia! It only took a couple month after she was actually born. I love looking at these pictures and remembering Mollie’s newborn shoot a couple years ago. That little baby has grown into one fun toddler, and I have no doubt that she will be the best big sister!

Lately, on InstagramHomeownership (ok and the competitive DC housing market that led us to skip a full inspection), has had many... surprises. Like years of flood damage in the basement, the skylights that were never sealed, the kitchen pipes that were not threaded, the complete lack of water pressure in the shower, the apparent absence of studs in any walls (how?), and the shower door that was hung backwards- to name a few. But there have also been other surprises. The light that fills our home at every moment of the day. The different blooms in the yard that show up unexpected. The tv, patio furniture, lawn tools, 12 cans of orange juice concentrate that the former owners left. The neighbors that have been a welcoming. The way a place can become home so quickly and deeply and happily and expensively and surprisingly. This fall sight on my doorstep is the most beautiful thing. I find reasons to walk outside and analyze my mums multiple times each day, constantly moving pumpkins and turning squirrel bite marks to the back. The kids have picked up on it, and Henry heads outside “just go see if the mums look pretty” and Etta is always pulling off blooms to bring to me. We all love climbing through flowers to come home. Really wanting November to go as slowly as possible.
